About the Course
Our intensive Macbeth revision course runs from 9:30am – 3:30pm (with regular breaks throughout the day) and is designed to give students the confidence and skills they need to succeed in their GCSE English Literature exam.
Who Is This Course For?
This course is ideal for Year 10 and Year 11 students studying Macbeth as part of the English Literature specification. All content is tailored to match the assessment requirements, with guidance on how to approach both shorter extract-based questions and whole-text essay responses
Topics Covered:
We will review and practise all key aspects of Macbeth, including:
Plot overview and key scenes
Character studies (Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, the Witches, Banquo, Duncan, and others)
Major themes (ambition, power, guilt, fate vs free will, kingship, and the supernatural)
Key quotations and close analysis
Context (Jacobean beliefs, Shakespeare’s audience, and historical background)
Exam technique for extract and essay-style questions
Students will:
Revise key knowledge with clear, structured teaching.
Practise exam-style questions to strengthen technique and timing.
Explore key scenes and quotations with step-by-step analysis.
Develop exam skills to maximise marks and avoid common pitfalls.
By the end of the day, students will leave with stronger knowledge, improved confidence, and a clear strategy for tackling Macbeth in their English Literature exam.
